Walgreens
Even worse than the fate of CVS, Walgreens is closing 200 of its stores in 2019. While this is less than three percent of its overall stores, it still seems like a lot, and it’s certainly a lot of people who will be jobless. Because of low generic drug costs, Walgreens is struggling to keep the cash flow high enough to stay open. Because of the struggles they are facing, they are now partnering with stores like Urban Outfitters to allow online shoppers to come to pick up their shipments from a Walgreens location.
Charming Charlie
If you’ve noticed the lack of Charming Charlie locations around you recently, it’s because after filing for bankruptcy twice in just two years, the store shut down every one of its stores in all 38 states that they were in and went completely out of business. Founder of the store, Charlie Chanaratsopon, says he hopes to one day bring the store back, and even paid $1.1 million to secure the name and intellectual property from the color-organized accessories store.
