Leandra Medeiros Cerezo is the daughter of former Brazilian football player Toninho Cerezo. She was born in Brazil and raised in Italy. Givenchy designer Ricardo Tisci spotted her in 2010, and she became the brand’s face. As her career progressed, she adopted the professional name Lea T, which is thought to stand for Tisci. In 2012, Lea went through her transition and underwent sex reassignment surgery in Thailand. She identifies as bisexual and has served as a symbol for the LGTBQ+ community through her work. She was also the first transgender woman to be chosen as the face of the American hair-care company Redken.
