An Athletic Family
Paige grew up in a family that was both physically active and competitive. He was a member of the 1976 Pittsburgh Panthers national championship college football team, and she was the daughter of a professional ballerina, Annette, who also played college football.

Lexie, her older sister, was also awarded a college athletic scholarship and was a member of Stanford’s track team. Paige’s parents have always encouraged her to participate in sports since she was a child. Paige grew up in a sheltered environment because her parents decided to homeschool her starting in fourth grade. She didn’t have many friends her age.

Paige was asked about her feelings about being a woman in professional golf, and she said, “I’m just trying to make others feel more comfortable because I know I wasn’t alone feeling that way for a long time.”

“That’s why people aren’t interested in golf.” It’s been around for so long because it’s such a male-dominated game. Traditions exist, and people want to change their traditions. It’s as if the world is ending when a woman comes in wearing leggings instead of trousers.”
