Kirk Alexander was a forty-eight years old man who lived in Salem, Oregon. He was a verified pizza lover and was a loyal customer of Domino’s Pizza. For 10 years of eating at that branch of the pizza shop, the staff that was on that location knew he was. However, a day after he ate a pizza at the pizza parlor, he stopped coming to their shop to order a pizza. The employees of the store were sad when they discovered what happened to Alexander.
The manager named Sarah Fuller was working at the Domino’s when she noticed Alexander was coming to their store to order some pizza. Alexander always requested a pizza almost every day or every other day. Sarah also said that their loyal customer Alexander always ordered pizza online. This was the reason that Sarah always saw the name Alexander on the monitor where customers waited for their order, and because he was a frequent customer, she knew when he would order every day.
In the neighborhood where Alexander was living, there was a time that a neighbor knocked on his door. However, he just sometimes answered the call of his neighbors. When one of his neighbors named Robert Lalonde, sometimes when he had free time, he would try to visit Alexander in his home. He tried to knock the door of his neighbor, but at some point, he was just when he wanted to. Robert was living just across the street where Alexander was living.
Another neighbor that was named Ben Theodoriches told us about Alexander. He said that Alexander was a pretty decent guy. However, he was not attached to people around his area. He also observed that Alexander had come over to his house to help him repair his computer. He also stated that Alexander was an expert at those jobs.
Sarah was one of the employees of the Domino’s who became familiar with Alexander. She knew what he would order because he was one of the frequent customers that would order for a pizza. She did have a point when he was ordering the same pizza every day in their shop.
11 Days With No Order
But for the several days that had passed, they observed that Alexander did stop ordering any pizza. This made the employees feel inadequate because their loyal customer was not ordering any more. It had been 11 days since he stopped ordering a pizza. They thought that Alexander was on holiday off where he was resting or stopping by at his family or friends. Some of them also thought that he had a business trip that he needed to attend.
A Friend To The Employees
Days soon passed by. It was not only Fuller who had noticed the absence of Alexander, but the delivery men were also starting to notice that Kirk had not placed an order for a few days now. They decided to ask Fuller about it. Fuller finally decided to inspect her records just to see how long it had been since Alexander ordered from their store. They finally found out that it had already been 11 days since he last placed an order from them.
Enjoyed Each Item
Fuller found out that it had already been 11 days since Kirk last ordered from their place. She had a hunch that maybe something was wrong. Kirk had already been a loyal customer of them for many years. The staff members already knew him so well, and they would describe him as someone kind, friendly, and quiet. And because Kirk ordered from them all the time, they had remembered him.
They even mentioned that Kirk was not just another customer or a friend to them. Instead, he was already like a family to them. All of the staff members knew him so well. They were so close that they would know that his trips did not take that long. They started to wonder whether Kirk had already gotten tired from ordering from Domino’s and was already starting to order from another pizza spot.
Also, they mentioned that Kirk was a very well-acquainted customer to them. However, he did not have a regular type of order and did not order the same thing each time he asked for delivery. They also said that he was willing to try anything from pizza to pasta to wings and even tried their sandwiches. He simply enjoyed the vast array of food that Domino’s offered to their customers and had always eaten there.
Reaching Out To 911
As time passed by, they started to get uneasy and worried. However, they were still trying to think positive and thought that there might just be another person. Or maybe, there were other reasons why their regular customer had not been ordering for the past several days. Finally, Fuller decided to ask one of her employers to make a quick visit to Kirk’s place just to check in on whether he was doing fine.
Calling For Help
The delivery driver, Tracey Hamblen, played a significant role. He was one of those who did one of the crucial tasks. Tracey started to approach the front door. He noticed that the lights inside were turned on. He could also faintly hear the sound coming from the television inside Kirk’s house as he decided to walk and approached the front door of the house.
In his interview with Good Morning America, Fuller had mentioned that Kirk did not answer his door. However, it was apparent that the lights were turned on, and he could hear the sound of the TV playing in the background. They even tried tor each out to Kirk by calling him a few times. However, there simply was no response. All of their calls just went straight to voicemail. And finally, they decided to call 911.
Making The Decision
Tracey decided to go back and return to the store. He was sure that something was wrong, and he had already made up his mind to do something about it. The first thing that came to mind was to make a call to 911. All the staff members were feeling edgy. According to Fuller, all of them were beginning to get anxious and worried. They all started to ask what was going on. They also wondered what was going to happen next now that they knew that Kirk might not be in his house. He decided to stay silent.
Tracey decided to knock and knock on the door. However, no one answered their knocks. He did not stop knocking. However, there was still no one who responded. Tracey finally decided to call Kirk. However, all his calls just went straight to the voicemail. Tracey had a hunch, and he knew that something was surely off. He decided to go back to the restaurant and talked to his colleagues about what had happened.
Sigh Of Relief
Eventually, someone among them finally had an idea. They all decided to discuss what to do. And when they discussed what he discovered with the rest of the staff, Hamblen did not dawdle and started to call for 911. He started by saying, “Okay, I need some guidance with what to do; it may be an emergency.”
A Humbling Experience
Hamblen had finally made up his mind to call 911. He began to report about Kirk, who was someone who regularly ordered food from them. However, it had already been exactly 11 days since they last heard from him. All of the staff members were beginning to get worried. The operator immediately took the details and the operator did not think twice and immediately called the Marion County’s Sheriff.
Explaining The Situation
Tracey was cautious and began to explain to the operator that it had already been eleven days since they last heard from Kirk. It was that long since he had ordered from them. Based on his records, this had not happened for the whole ten years that he had been ordering food from the restaurant.
The sheriff acted quickly and immediately gave commands to his deputies to go and to check on Kirk’s house. Back then, they did not know what would happen next. When the police reached their destination, they began to approach the front door. Afterward, they knocked on the door several times as they called for Kirk’s name.
Sarah mentioned that the officer might have heard him shouting for help inside. This might be why the police did not think twice about breaking down the door. The paramedics then followed the officers. Afterward, they all rushed Kirk to the hospital. Upon further investigations, they had found out that Kirk had suffered from a few minor strokes in the past.
The moment that the officers heard a response, they were sure that it was the sound of someone who was crying for help. They decided to push the door open. They rushed inside, and when they came in, they saw that Kirk was lying on the floor. They immediately radioed for an ambulance. The moment that the ambulance arrived, they hurriedly took Alexander to the nearest hospital.
Found At Last
And then finally, the officers had knocked the door down. The moment they entered through the door, they had seen that Alexander was lying on the floor. He needed medical assistance as soon as possible. After their initial check-up on Kirk’s condition, they said that he might not have been able to make it if they had postponed even just for one day.
It looked as though he had a stroke attack. It was fortunate that the paramedics had somehow managed to stabilize his condition. And yet, there were still many uncertainties. Nobody was with him when he had the accident, so this meant that no one could tell for sure how long Kirk had been down for.
It was fortunate that they found Kirk just in time. The professional doctors were able to save his life. They had hopes that he would be able to make a full and speedy recovery. The staff members of Domino’s were so happy to hear about this positive news. Fuller mentioned that Kirk was just like a member of the family for them. They were happy that they were able to do something to help him. They were also hoping that Kirk would be able to recuperate from everything fully.
Seiber said that they had finally decided to send Kirk some flowers and gifts. They were hoping that these small things would help him recover much faster. They also knew that knowing that others cared would help in his speedy recovery. It was uplifting to find people who were willing to support one another in this kind of moment.
Also, Seiber had said that they visited Kirk the first day. During their initial visit, he was still a little out of it because all he could answer were simple questions that were answerable by a yes or a no. However, he did much better when they decided to check in on him again on Monday. Seiber also mentioned that he had already been transferred to the rehabilitation center of the hospital when they checked in again on him the next day.
Jenny Fouracre, the director of Public Relations at the headquarters of Domino’s at Ann Arbor, Michigan, said, “He was still tired, but he seemed to do so much better and recovered well.” Also, she mentioned that the activities of the store were consistent with the expectations of its customer service.
Proud Of The Team
Fouracre mentioned that she was proud of her team, who decided to take the additional step and went out of their way to reach out. They went on their way to help a regular customer that was in need. All of Domino’s branches and stores across the country had this significant role that they played in the community in which they belonged. And this included serving their clients at home. This also ensured that the workers got to know their customers well.
She went on and said that this was not the first store to have ever done it. They also had other stores that went out of their way to help their regular customers no matter how big or small the issue or matter was all over the years. This only proved that their level of customer service and their commitment to the members of the community were at a higher one than the others. They prayed and hoped that the others would follow their practice as well.
Doing Their Job
The workers of Domino’s did not think and consider themselves to be heroes at all. Fuller had even explained that they were simply doing their job by checking up with their regular client. And since they knew and were aware that there was something they had to do, they simply did it, and it was one of the best things that they did.
It was inspiring and amazing just how caring, polite, respectful, and thoughtful the workers were. However, the media somehow heard about the incident, and so they decided to pick up the story and even wrote about it. Soon, news about what happened had spread all around the globe. The report had made it across the world, and there was something more in store for them.
Eventually, Fuller had been interviewed by Good Morning America. She was not alone with the interview, and her assistant manager accompanied her. She was Jenny Seiber. Both of them were requested to recall what happened during the incident that occurred. The two of them were soon thanked and congratulated by the host for listening to the voices in their hearts and for doing what they had done.
Some updated information about the condition and well-being of Alexander was shared. They talked about their recent visits to him at the hospital. Seiber did not hesitate to share with the host Robin Roberts that she had decided to go and visit Kirk’s condition three times after he had been admitted to the hospital.
Out Of It
Seiber went on to continue and informed them that he was out of it during the first time that they had visited him. His response was limited to a simple yes or no. Thankfully, he got better and better. The next day, he got stronger. And for the third day, he was finally admitted to the rehabilitation center.
Eventually, after that, the two workers were in it for a big revelation. Roberts soon revealed that they would be sent to Captain America: Civil War because of what they had done. All of the staff members of the restaurant were given tickets. However, that was not the end of it.
The corporate office of Domino’s had decided to send out Trace Hamblen and the rest of the other managers to the Domino’s Worldwide Rally. For those who did not know what it was, it was an annual convention for all members of Domino. It was typically held in Las Vegas. It was the least they could for all these lifesavers.
All of the employees from Domino’s had received a lot of admiration and compliments from everyone. It was because of what they had done. Even the Marion County Sheriff’s Office went out of their way just to thank them and to show their appreciation. The sheriff decided to give personal thanks to Mr. Hamblen because of what he had done for the sake of Mr. Alexander.
The Sheriff Office did not hesitate to give their thanks to Hamblen. He was able to act efficiently and effectively. Hamblen was also willing to take some time from his busy schedule during the day to check up on the condition of others. Astoundingly, all of these people received some of the recognition they deserved for the brave thing they had done.
Days went and passed by. The workers went on and continued to visit Alexander in the hospital. They frequently checked out on him in the hopes that his condition was stabilizing and improving. They visited him to make sure that he was aware that they were sincere and cared for his well-being.
On The Mend
Kirk was now on the mend. He was sent to the hospital, and as far as we knew, he was now slowly recovering. We would pray and hope for his quick recovery for him to return home and be able to go back to his schedule. Hopefully, he would continue to order from Domino, his favorite fast-food restaurant.
