When the fighting reached the Alps, it was unsurprising. Soldiers from both sides fought for more than 400 miles over the summits in what has come to be known as the White War. For three years, this went on. The warriors met in one of the most hostile environments in the world.

Mount Scorluzzo was once an Alpine wonderland, but throughout the fight, it was transformed into a violent battleground. Young green soldiers were obliged to ascend the snowy summits with heavy equipment on their backs, rather than mountaineers conquering the hills. This was far from simple.
