Lory Del Santo
Clapton did play a few of performances in Milan, Italy, in October 1985, but they were only a few days long and ended up being cancelled. A woman named Lory Del Santo, an Italian woman whom the guitarist met while on tour, is said to have become his girlfriend while in Italy. Apparently, they didn’t care that he was married, and it appears that they began having sexual relations with one another. A lot of factors contributed to Boyd’s heartache as a result of the pregnancy that occurred from his relationship with this woman.
Boyd Was Devastated
Boyd, as you may be aware, has been struggling with infertility for quite some time. During their relationship, Boyd and Clapton tried in vain to become pregnant through in vitro fertilization (IVF), but were unsuccessful. Boyd appeared to be suffering from miscarriage to miscarriage, which was really distressing to witness. When Clapton informed Boyd that Del Santo was expecting a child of her own, Boyd was visibly distressed. To quote the chronicler of Clapton’s life and career, Philip Norman, “[She] felt] like [her] heart was about to disintegrate,”
