The director, Paul Verhoeven, approved actor Kurtwood Smith’s idea to say, “Give me my f*****’ phone call.” However, both Kurtwood and Paul chose not to divulge the plan to the crew. Fun fact: Malcolm McDowell is the one who came up with the creepy “Singing in the Rain” sequence in the film A Clockwork Orange. Who could forget that? Stanley Kubrick got frustrated with filming the rape scene, so he told the actors to do whatever they want. Kubrick got inspired when Malcolm started singing the song. Both of them collaborated, and it went a long way in making the iconic scene!
