The entire time they were talking, Chauncy kept calling himself “poor.” Though Chauncy didn’t have a lot of money, Matt soon saw that ‘being poor’ was an integral part of who Chauncy was. Despite all of this, Chauncy was resolved to improve his situation.

Chauncy told Matt his goal in life was to start a successful business and become wealthy. He planned to do some good for the community after he became wealthy. To the extent that he could, he would have done what Matt was doing right this second: bought food for the hungry.
