His son died while on duty. “He didn’t make it home,” the officer said to William. Clearly, he struggled to get the words out of his mouth. It was so sad, it broke William’s heart. All he could do at that point was simply listen.

He couldn’t help but feel sympathy for the policeman. He was thinking of this cop who lost his son in Iraq while he was just out there enjoying life as usual once he got back to America.
