Davis did report that he had seen the car to the police who were looking into the theft case because he believed that was all there was to it. that he would simply resume writing up motorists for infractions along the highway. Davis, however, would prove to be dead wrong about this.

Again, it only took a week or so. Davis had a boring week of work on the highway patrol. He had enraged the community so much once more that he had serious doubts about his ability to continue in this position. Davis then experienced deja vu during the Friday afternoon rush hour.
