Steven Griffith as Tex
Even though Tex, played by Steven Griffith, is not the primary protagonist of the film, he does receive a few moments of the spotlight during the scene in which Forrest is thinking back on his time in Vietnam with his fellow soldiers. This is the scene in which Tex plays a significant role. A guy named Dallas is from Phoenix, while another soldier named Cleveland is from Detroit, which leads to an amusing turn of events in the plot.

For some odd reason, Forrest’s memory fails him when it comes to determining where Tex originated from. Finally, Forrest comes to Tex’s help and saves him in the middle of the chaos and confusion generated by the struggle.

Steven Griffith’s acting career has taken a more low-key turn after his performance as Tex, to say the least. After more than 25 years, the only other acting credits he has are for four different roles. He received a great deal of media exposure as a result of his appearance on the show Break a Hip. Griffith was not permitted to participate in one episode of Desperate Housewives due to his towering height.

Since 2012, Griffith has switched away from a profession in acting to focus full-time on pursuing a career as a writer. In this new role, Griffith hopes to one day become an Oscar-winning screenwriter.
