It seems like we all wish for that day that our dream house will be ours. However, this man got somewhat more than he bargained for when he bought a house. As he was exploring his new property, Christopher discovered something that would completely change his life around.
House of His Dreams
Christopher began investigating his new property, intrigued at what he could find. He had no idea what could be waiting for him in the dark tunnel he discovered. He just kept going even though he was advised by a police officer and a realtor not to.
When he was done with his exploring and found all the proof he needed, Christopher knew his only choice was to leave and never come back to that place. What could he have found when he explored his brand-new home?
Wandering The Woodland
Not that long ago, Christopher Wanliss bought a new property. Resting on around 40 acres of woodland fields, he was so excited to own a space that was only his. Little did he know that he was about to stumble across a kind of portal in the land he now owned.
A Tour Of His Land
All the same, it seemed like this was what was in store for him. At one point, he went out to go on a tour of his new property and its surrounding area. The seasons were harsh that year and they had stripped away the outer layers of the trees in the area. However, this only made the place look even more breathtaking.
Christopher enjoyed everything the entire area had to offer, from the birds singing in the sky to the serene quiet of the forest. It wasn’t long before his feet began wandering on their own and his mind and body went into auto-pilot mode. All of a sudden, something caught his eye.
Was It A Tree?
Christopher was still in a haze when he approached the direction of the thing that caught his attention. It was small and rather dark, almost like it was in hiding, just trying not to be seen. Could it have been another tree? A smaller, darker, older tree than the rest?
The Mysterious Structure
While this was exactly what he thought at first, he got the feeling that he was mistaken as he got closer. He felt a thrill of excitement and a little bit of fear as he continued inspecting it. He then stumbled and fell down a 3-foot ditch!
Abandoned And Old
Covered by leaves and dirt, Christopher was dumbfounded by the fall. He shook it all off and looked at what was in front of him. He was perplexed by what he saw. Did he just discover a mine right on his property? Judging by the way it looked, it seemed old and abandoned. He felt compelled to investigate the secrets this structure held.
The outside of the mine was covered with moss-like material and it was difficult to look inside. He was so excited to embark on a new adventure. Immediately, he went home and grabbed a flashlight that would allow him to see what was hiding in there.
A Ton Of Mines
Recalling that moment, Christopher said, “When we bought the house, nobody ever told us about the fact that the estate had a lot of mines on it. We just sort of stumbled upon the gold mine one day and that was it. When I first saw it, I was so excited that I almost fell over myself. The only thing that I could think about was Indiana Jones and underground railroads.”
A Bad Decision
At the time, he had absolutely no idea that would be the worst decision he ever made. All the same, he made it back to the entrance with his flashlight. He realized he was holding his breath and was welcomed by something glittering on the walls. What was it?
The walls were all damp and looked as if they could come crumbling down at any moment. Christopher’s footsteps echoed and he couldn’t help but think about all the dirt and soil pressing down on the tunnel. He wanted to stay longer, so he had packed three backup batteries for his flashlight.
When he got near the walls, he couldn’t help but brush his hand around the sparkling material of the stones. He thought, “What if this was gold?” However, soon he forgot all about that when he noticed something that would change the course of his little adventure immediately.
Cold And Damp Inside
No matter what the temperature was outside, the mine was cold and damp. Christopher noticed quickly that the footprints he made left 4-inch indentations in the soil. It looked as if there was a source of water seeing as there were fresh pools of water inside. He became worried since he knew stagnant puddles in that kind of place could carry dangerous gases.
The Sound Of An Echo
As Christopher looked ahead of him with the flashlight straight forward, he still couldn’t tell where the tunnel ended. He was able to see that there was something or someone else in there. He started hearing sounds echoing in the tunnel. Too curious to stop, he began following the source of the noise and clearly didn’t know that this was the wrong thing to do.
No Light, No Warmth
As he kept making his way down the dark tunnel, everything was completely still. There was no movement at all, of air, warmth, or light. He held tightly onto his flashlight, almost as if he were holding the hilt of a sword going into battle. The noise kept growing louder and louder this time. He could clearly hear old metal parts and machinery somewhere further down the path.
At that moment, Christopher began hearing voices as well. He couldn’t tell what they were saying, but he mustered up the courage to shout out, “Who’s there?” The only response he got was the echo of his own voice. He was determined to see who exactly was hiding in there.
Old Ventilation System
Surrounded by nothing but dirt and water, Christopher’s boots went deeper and deeper with every step he took. He saw a yellow ventilation system in place, but it seemed like it was falling apart. Chains were hanging low as well. They were near each other, each chain molding and rusting more than the other.
Suddenly, Christopher felt strange, like there was some kind of weird energy down there. Something was pulling him back, making him feel as if he wasn’t meant to be down there. Nonetheless, he went on and followed the path of the water to trace it to its source. Maybe that was the place he would find the sources of the voice. Was someone living down there?
Finally Some Light
Christopher said, “The ambient temperature also seemed to suddenly drop all around me at this point, and I felt an even stronger negative presence ahead in the tunnel”. He was almost 150 feet into the tunnel when he turned around and found some light by the entrance.
He couldn’t believe what he was seeing when he looked back. He was only able to stand there for two seconds when his body finally reacted. He jumped, held onto the walls, feeling his claustrophobia growing stronger. One of the chains began swinging.
Who Was There?
It wasn’t a light movement, it was moving with strength. Christopher knew someone was there, watching him. His heart was pounding when he ran all the way back to the entrance. He knew he needed to escape and get in touch with someone about what he discovered. The question was, who could he call about this kind of thing?
The First Call
Terrified and covered in sweat, Christopher made his way home. He immediately grabbed his phone and called the realtor. He then described everything he saw and heard, from the material on the walls to the sounds. The real estate agent replied that he would send someone to take a look at it.
“When we went to ask about the place, we were finally told that the estate had actually been home to quite a lot of mining sites. A lot of mining was done in these hills at the turn of the century, and there are a lot of little mines that are scattered across the hills,” Christopher said, thinking back. Despite the fact that he felt better initially after calling, his body immediately tensed up again. “This cannot be happening!” he exclaimed.
Dropping Temperatures and Flickering Lights
He had been standing in his kitchen when he finished the call. To his surprise, the lights began flickering. He did his best to control the panic rising in his chest and tried slowing down his rapid breathing. The flickering lights went on for a while. Until suddenly, everything went black.
To The Thermostat
He made his way to the main switch of the room and turned it off and then back on. Nothing happened. He suddenly started feeling a chill that hadn’t been there moments earlier. A breeze hit his face out of nowhere. Quickly, Christopher retrieved the flashlight from his pocket, turned it on, and looked at his thermostat.
Quite The Temperature Drop
He saw the temperature fell quite a bit inside. His breath made a cloud in front of him. Christopher couldn’t help but think about how strange it was. He wanted to turn the power back on, so he headed for the circuit breaker. Perhaps this whole thing could have simply been a fuse that had blown out.
As he inspected the breaker with his flashlight, it didn’t seem like anything was wrong. Everything was in check and the main fuse looked perfectly fine. As he kept inspecting the box, he attempted switching different things on and off. Fortunately, this worked. Christopher was so relieved there was nothing sinister at play.
The Doorbell Rang
Despite still feeling nervous, Christopher kept telling himself that it was simply faulty wiring. He headed back upstairs to get a glass of water to calm himself down. However, the moment he got up there, he heard the doorbell ring.
Meet Mr. Rudall
Mr. Rudall introduced himself, explaining that the real estate agent had sent him due to the call Christopher made earlier. He wanted to see what he had found and was intrigued about the material he had found in the tunnel.
The Calm Before The Storm
Christopher showed Rudall to the entrance of the mine and told him to be careful to avoid hurting himself as he went down there. As they were walking quietly through the woods, the sky looked grey, just as it would right before a storm would hit.
When the two reached the mine, they both took out their flashlights. The sparkling material on the walls looked even more eye-catching this time around, the glare hitting them in the face. Rudall walked up to the walls to get a closer look. He could no longer hold in his excitement. When he turned back to face Christopher, it felt almost as if the mine was trying to tell them something. Rudall then told Christopher something troubling.
He began telling Christopher how the mine was without a doubt a gold mine that had been created a long time ago. As he was staring at the walls, it was clear that the gold remained untouched. There was more than enough evidence that the miners didn’t finish the job and stranded the mine instead. The question was, why?
Rudall went on to explain that there were plenty of rumors about mining during the turn of the century, although he didn’t know about any specific gold mines before this one. So why did the miners leave it behind along with all the gold inside? Nothing good came to mind but Christopher was too curious and wanted to find out the truth.
He gathered all his courage to investigate the mine further. He had two things on his mind. One was that he could find gold instead. The second thing was that the mine could very well be haunted. He prepared himself for the excursion and went inside with spare batteries and a flashlight in hand. As he made his way down the path again, darkness enveloped him.
The Source Of The Water
The last time he was down there, Christopher was only able to make it 150 feet into the mysterious tunnel. He knew he needed to keep going – no matter what. The only way he could get to the bottom of this was seeing it through. When they were 600 feet into the tunnel, they finally discovered the source of the water: it was a door.
Christopher felt a shiver run down his spine as water dripped onto his face, blurring his vision. He sucked in a sharp breath, bringing his fist up to knock on the door even though he knew he wouldn’t get an answer. Christopher opened the door and got the surprise of a lifetime.
A Different World Altogether
It felt as if he had walked into a completely different world. Regardless of the weather outside, the room was absolutely freezing. He touched the walls, noting how they felt colder and rougher than those outside. He felt his claustrophobia kicking in, telling him to leave right that second and go outside. However, that moment was when his flashlight hit something else.
Something Was Going On
There were plenty of ruined objects huddled together, but none of it made any sense. Why would someone leave all their belongings here? He felt as if the air got thicker and was pressing in on his chest somehow. There was something strange going on there, only he didn’t know what it was.
Living Down There
When he inspected the pile, Christopher caught sight of a bedspring. It was all rusty and broken. It was the only answer he needed. Someone definitely lived there and it didn’t look like they were in any rush to move anywhere else. He couldn’t get the thought out of his head when something else caught his eye.
He saw a brick hideaway. This did nothing to comfort him. Who needed a hideaway door inside a mine underground? Clearly, someone was doing their best to hide something important. Curious, Christopher approached the hole but found nothing there. Just as he was turning around to head back, he found something else on the walls.
A Brick Hideout
Shining his flashlight on the bricks, he saw some white scratches on the walls. He couldn’t make out what it said until he moved closer to it. It was then when he saw there were four vertical lines on the wall. It was strange, to say the least.
He ran his hands over the scatches and inspected them closely. It felt like they were made using fingers since they were more superficial, but still deep enough to mark the cement. Who could have been looking to escape the place? As he was deep in thought about this, he found another thing that would later appear in his nightmares.
Writing On The Wall
On the wall opposite, Christopher found even more scratches, only they weren’t just lines. He found an undecipherable message he decided to document. Taking out his camera, he snapped a photo of it. Maybe, later on, he would be able to use his computer to investigate the matter further.
Chills Went Through His Body
Suddenly, he heard something that led to a chill running down his entire body. Someone else was in there with him. He directed his flashlight towards the direction the sound was coming from. Nothing was there. He turned and kept inspecting the writing on the wall until he heard a metal clashing and felt a cold breeze on his shoulder.
Christopher felt as if he had just gone through a cold shower as his body felt like ice. At first, it almost looked like it was coming from behind him, then from the front, then he couldn’t tell anymore. It seemed to be coming from all directions by then. It was becoming louder, getting closer, and sounding frantic. Christopher ran for his life.
Running For His Life
He felt chills running down his spine and ice in his veins as he ran as fast as he could. He couldn’t help but feel as if there was something very wrong. His mind told him to stay perfectly still, only his body kept dragging him to the mine’s entrance. When he finally made it out, he clutched his chest and collapsed.
So Right, It Was Wrong
He should have known that this was all too good to be true. An untouched gold mine? It simply couldn’t be – there must have been a good reason it was left the way it was. Christopher caught his breath, gathered himself and then headed for his house.
Like A Madman
Everything felt so still, it seemed like the air was absorbing the sound of his footsteps. The trees weren’t rustling, almost like they knew how tense the whole situation was. He starting running again – he had to find out what was going on as soon as possible.
Help From Google
When he made it back to his house, he ran to his study and shut himself inside. There was something seriously strange happening in the mine and he wanted answers to his questions. He turned to the internet for help.
His first type search was “Haunted mines”, only by writing it he got the chills. He had the feeling that there was someone else there in that mine that had also followed him to his house. He was also asking himself if maybe it was his imagination
He then remembered that while in the mine, once we turned around he started hearing voices that were coming from all over the place but he couldn’t see anyone. The air then had started to become colder and harder to breathe
Google had finally some answers, and the first one said the following: “If you want to get rid of the paranormal activity in the mine and subsequently, in your life, you have to face it.” Was it up to Cristopher to go back to the mine and face his fear/imagination?
He jumped from his chair as he heard someone knocking on this studio. He gathered the courage to ask “hello”? and approached the door to turn the doorknob and see who was it that was knocking at this time.
There was no one, he headed to the kitchen and then a noise caught his attention. He then realized it was his camera! his camera was the one making all the noises but it was off. Then how was this possible? Everything was getting stranger by the second
It Was On
He went to take the camera and check what was wrong. He was surprised when he saw that as a matter of fact, it was on! even though he was sure that he had turned it off. He took a look at the pictures he had taken earlier but then again something weird ocurred
The Card Was Wiped
The camera roll was empty! as if someone had deleted all the data. Cristopher decided to take the camera and go to mine again and he decided to find out what was happening there and face his fears.
He decided to not think about the fear and to be brave. He went to the mine again and soon darkness would be all that surrounded him. Once his eyes had adjusted to the darkness, he noticed that he had made a mistake. Why did he go back to the mine?
Pitch Black Tunnel
Somehow it seemed like the tunnel was darker than the previous two times that he had been down there. His first guess was that maybe his flashlight was dying or wasn’t working correctly, so he decided to keep going.
He managed to get through the pond but stopped because again a cold breeze of air hit him, but this time it was so strong that he felt like he was being hit by a ball. The cold went till inside his bones.
The Noise Was Back
As if it wasn’t enough, the metallic noise began. Cristopher was lost for words and thoughts, he still decided to push forward since it was the only way now. He did not know that it was a terrible idea at the moment.
He kept going through the dark and scary corridor until he suddenly stopped. He began to scream of pain. At this point, the noise was so great that his ears began to ring. But now it was too late to go back, the only way was to go forward.
The noise imitated the one that a bunch of metals does when they are pressured against one another. For what it seemed a long time, Cristopher covered his ears with his hands, and just like that everything went dead silent. He was more scared than before and it was then when he saw something.
Once again, the chains that were hanging in the corridor began to swing, somehow as if they were dancing. Cristopher was caught up in their movement, so into it that he didn’t even hear the sound of the water dropping.
A Big Flood
Once he went back to himself and his eyes adjusted, he saw a wave of water directed towards him. He thought it was a tsunami and he said to himself “I must be going crazy!”. The silence was broken by the flood of water
What Was Hiding?
He didn’t know what to do. Each step there was a new obstacle and he didn’t know how to discover the secret of that mine. His body was in pain, his head was going to explode and his body was imploring him to go leave that place
Safety At Last
He finally made the right choice and headed towards the end of the mine. He was in awe when he looked back and there was no trace whatsoever of water. Just his footsteps
Too Close For Comfort
As he was on the way to his house, he knew that someone had to know about what was happening on that mine. He was so curious and determined to discover the truth. Let’s not forget that the mine was under his property.
Who Was There?
As he was leaving the dark woods, he saw a light and his heart stopped. It was coming from his kitchen, and he was positive that he had turned all of the lights off. Had someone broke into his house while he was in the mine?
No One There
As he made his way inside the house, he realized that there was no one there. It felt like the house was empty so he thought that maybe he had left the lights on after all. As he was arranging the kitchen and pacing around, he was still thinking about that mine.
Was It All Real
As Cristopher was heading towards his studio to research more on the computer, he couldn’t help but ask himself “Did everything really happen?”. He didn’t believe in paranormal activity but at this point, he didn’t know what to think anymore
It Went Black
Again he went on the computer to do some research. The computer made a strange noise and shut down completely. Again strange things happening “What could go wrong next?” he asked himself. But the story was far from being over.
He was exhausted not only physically but especially mentally. That day had been crazy and made him question everything. As he was covering his face with his hands he felt something that was pulling at his feet suddenly.
He Was Off
He lost the equilibrium fell off the chair and onto the ground. That was it, he had to leave that house and look for help. Maybe there was one simple explanation for everything that was happening. He took his car and drove to the closest cafe
Once he arrived at the cafe, he ordered an espresso and typed on his phone something that he never thought he would “Best phrenologist near me”. There were two locations near him so he went to one of them.
When he arrived at the location there was a sign that said “TAROT readings” he immediately felt relieved, he knew that it was crazy but he had to get answers to his question if he ever wanted to be at peace at night.
As soon as he entered the store, he smelled incensed and a woman dressed in red and purple. The women headed towards Cristopher and offered him help. She began to sing a melody that sounded very familiar to him. Immerse in the sound of the woman, he realized that it was the same tune he had heard in the mine! He opened his eyes and left to his car without a noise
Leaving It All Behind
The first thing he did was to put his house to tell. Then he decided to went to his mother’s house. The property developers of Christopher’s house tried to get in touch with him but he never picked up the phone. So his mother took the responsibility of selling the house
We all have many questions that have been unanswered throughout the story. Was everything that Cristopher claimed true? Was the mine haunted or was his mind messing with him? Will this mystery ever be solved?
A Fine Christmas Morning
It was Christmas day of 2015 when Jose Antonio Nievas woke up at the time of the sunrise. This Argentinian man had every year the same tradition. Because it was still early, he decided to go out for a walk around his ranch but noticed something odd when he passed through the stream of his property. There was a very big stone on the water, so he decided to take a closer look. But then he realized it was not a stone
