Le Freak
The disco and funk song “Le Freak” by Chic was released in 1978. To be honest, most people listen to this song for the sake of having a good time rather than for its deeper significance. That’s not to say the music isn’t interesting. The song is really about Chic’s bassist and guitarist being denied entry to New York’s renowned Studio 54! The bouncer allegedly told them to “f off” since their names weren’t on the list. It was the source of the expression “freak out!”

Smoke On The Water
The famous guitar riff was created after a rocket was launched inside a casino during a Frank Zappa concert. Shortly later, a fire broke out, totally destroying the casino. After witnessing smoke flow across Lake Geneva, Roger Glover came up with the title “Smoke on the Water.”
