Contrary to common belief, Heart’s song “Barracuda” is not about a sea creature. The song’s lyrics are about lead vocalist Ann Wilson’s fury at Mushroom Records over a publicity stunt she and her sister, Nancy, were involved in. The song vividly depicts Ann’s rage at a male reporter who brought up the made-up problem. “Barracuda was theoretically formed out of a lot of this record industry [nonsense],“ producer Mike Flicker says. It arose from that entire experience.”
