After Seeing Her Photo In The Record Studio, She Burst Into Tears

Joel and Valerie had seen each other for a while when they agreed to go to New York for a trip. They both came from a small town in Minnesota, so they were excited to visit the Big Apple for the first time. The pair had a blast on the trip. They spent a lot of time checking out the music stores that they stumbled upon. Joel took a photo of Valerie in one of these shops, but he had no idea that he caught something that would change her life forever. It was a small detail that they nearly did not notice.

Going Back To Their Hotel

On the way back to the hotel, Joel and Valerie took in everything that was in their sight. They were having a great time with the love of their life! She started to tell him about how much she had always adored record shops. She told her boyfriend that they reminded her of her youth, although she did not explain why this was the case.

A Sad Look On Her Face

Joel could not help but notice that she looked sad as she spoke. It was clear that she was emotional, so he chose not to press her about it. However, he would soon learn exactly why she had that sad look on her face. Once they got to the hotel, they checked out the photos from earlier that day.

She Zoomed In On The Photo

It is not a secret that New York is very photogenic. In fact, it is not hard to take great photos when you are out and about. As Valerie browsed the photos that they had taken, she took a better look at the one of her inside a music shop. She was shocked when she zoomed in on it.

Tears Rolled Down Her Face

At first, Joel had no idea why she was behaving like that. He did not understand why she was so sad as they made their way back to the hotel. However, he was even more surprised as she began to cry after looking at that photo of her. Joel attempted to comfort her, but he was confused about her reaction.

She Pointed At An Album

She wanted to make him understand why she was acting that way. After Valerie calmed down, she started to tell him what she noticed in the photo. It was what made her burst into tears! She pointed to something in the background. She directed his attention to a Nirvana record behind her.

He Was Still Puzzled

Even after hearing this, Joel remained puzzled. What did that mean? However, it finally became clear when she told him that her father would play this in the car in the past. Valerie went on to say that she went to record stores all the time with her father when she was a girl.

That Was Not All

However, this did not explain why she was so sad. There was more to it than that. Apparently, Valerie and her father got into a fight a year ago. They had not spoken since then. Joel was sad to hear this and decided to do something about it. He came up with a plan to make his girlfriend feel better.

He Had A Plan

He took her out to the streets of New York once more. However, Valerie did not want to leave their hotel room. Joel told her that it was not going to take a long time. After hearing that, she figured out what he had in mind. She was right. They came back to the record store!

She Was The Confused One Now

It was her turn to feel confused. Valerie had no idea why Joel took her back to the record store when it made her sad in the first place. Joel told his girlfriend to trust him. There was no doubt in his mind that she would love his plan. But what exactly did he have in mind anyway?

Looking For The Record

And so, they found themselves at the record store once more. Joel immediately looked for the record that he accidentally captured in the photo. They were able to find the right spot in the store. But to their surprise, the album was no longer there. What was he going to do now? It was a big part of his plan.

It Was Too Late

Joel approached the store clerk to ask about the album in question. According to the record store employee, a man had just bought it! She informed Joel and Valerie that they could still catch him if they moved fast enough. The couple immediately ran out of the store to look for the man in question.

The Couple Spotted Someone

They saw a man that had a big bag with him. Valerie and Joel ran after him, hoping that he was the one who bought the album. The couple caught up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. Sadly, he told them that they had the wrong guy. Devastated, Valerie sat down until something caught her eye.

Another Guy With A Bag

She was surprised by the scene that was unraveling right before her. There was another man with a bag headed for the music store. He then walked out again and made his way to the couple. He told Joel and Valerie that he left his sunglasses in the store. Inside, the clerk told him that they were looking for him.

She Was In Disbelief

Warily, Valerie asked if he was the one who purchased the album. He replied in the affirmative. After that, she explained the entire story. He seemed touched by what she told him. She then asked if he would allow her to buy the Nirvana album off him to apologize to her father!

What The Stranger Told Them

It was a good thing that the man had been understanding. The kind stranger did not mind selling the record to the couple. Valerie handed him the money in exchange for the album. She was happy with the turn of events! We are glad that it all worked out. She could not wait to go home and hand it to her dad.

She Got An Unexpected Call

As they were walking back to their hotel, her phone started to ring all of a sudden. It was an unknown number. Intrigued, she picked it up. Who could it be? She was not expecting a call. She heard a strange voice that delivered some bad news. This person informed her that her dad was in the hospital!

No One Was With Him

This was how Valerie found out that her father just had a heart attack. Her old man was in the hospital and had no one visit him. This made the young woman break down in tears. It had been an emotional rollercoaster of a day. It was too much. A person can only take so much in a span of twenty-four hours.

They Hatched A Plan

Valerie informed Joel of what had just happened. At the time, they were more than 1,300 miles away from where her father was. However, they knew that they had to act as quickly as they could. Sadly, they had no idea that it would not be easy to visit the hospital where her father was confined.

The Beginning Of The Journey

There was no time to wait. They picked up all their belongings at the hotel and hailed a cab. Valerie and John were headed to the airport. Luckily for them, New York does not run out of yellow cabs. On the way there, Joel started to look for the next flight headed to Minnesota.

It Was Fully Booked

To his dismay, Joel saw only a single flight for the day. On top of that, it was fully booked by then. The couple still decided to go to the airport. After all, what else did they have to lose? They agreed that it was worth trying their luck at the counters to see if it was possible to get on that flight.

They Did Not Hear Good News

Sadly, the woman at the counter told them that it was already full. There was only one way for them to join the flight. This was only possible if two people did not show up. Joel and Valerie decided to try their luck and wait. They had no guarantee that this will happen, so the only thing they could do was hope.

Someone Woke Them Up

Tired from the events of that day, Joel and Valerie ended up falling asleep. They only woke up when a big man shouted at them. He informed the couple that they had to rush to the gate as the plane was due to leave in 15 minutes. Apparently, they were in luck. Two seats were available!

There Was No Time To Celebrate

Joel and Valerie got on the plane and sat down in their seats. All of a sudden, she was filled with fear. She had no idea how her dad would react. He might have been still mad at her. What if he did not want to see her? She had no idea what to do. Luckily, Joel was there to tell her that it would be all right.

When They Finally Landed

He could tell that his girlfriend was tired. She fell asleep in no time and only woke up as they landed in Minnesota. The couple picked up their things and disembarked. They had a clear plan of action. Joel and Valerie would get out of the airport as soon as possible and head to the hospital.

They Hopped Inside A Cab

They found a cab and got in. In half an hour, Joel and Valerie found themselves at the hospital. The couple still had all of their things from the trip when they went inside. She went up to the counter to ask about her father. This was when she received even more bad news.

No More Visiting Hours

The person at the counter informed her that she could not see him at the moment. Visiting hours were already over by then. Joel came up to the counter and shared the situation. The lady reconsidered and told them that she would ask a doctor to see if they could do anything about it.

They Waited For An Answer

It had been a very long day. After waiting for what felt like an eternity, the doctor showed up. She told Valerie that she was allowing them to see his father. The only catch was that they could not stay long. Valerie was relieved to hear this. She was excited as she was ushered into the room.

He Was On The Bed

As she stood in front of the door to his room, she took a deep breath. Once she went inside, Valerie found her dad with his eyes closed on top of the hospital bed. She went up to him with tears streaming down her eyes. Everything was still and silent. All of a sudden, he started to move.

No One Expected It

He opened his eyes and looked at his daughter. The two of them stared at each other for one moment. The room was totally silent. It was the sort of silence that would let you hear the drop of a pin. However, this was soon shattered by something that Valerie did not expect whatsoever. What did he do?

Everything Was All Right

Her father lifted his arms out to her and locked her in an embrace! After this momentous hug, all the people in the room knew that they were going to be all right. Valerie and her father swore to each other that they were never going to fight again. After hearing this, Joel remembered their plan.

They Had A Gift For Him

Once things have calmed down between the father and daughter, Joel pulled out the album they bought in New York. The older man began to cry once more when he realized what it meant. He was touched by how thoughtful the couple had been. This was the perfect time for such a perfect gift.
