These stunning celebrities were in the spotlight way before their days on the big screen, they were always considered as having a stage presence. However, some of these celebrities may surprise you with regards to who won what where. You simply won’t believe what these celebrities looked like in their pageant days, their progression to the big screen and over the years is truly something!  Young and old I guess these female celebrities were destined for big things even back in the day. One of the most famous news anchors across the globe Diane Sawyer is a face of familiarity for all. If we take it back to the ’60s though, she was ruling the pageant world. She won the Kentucky Junior Miss Pageant when she was just a senior in high school. Diane Sawyer went on to win America’s Junior Miss competition in the exact same year. Guess she always been the face a crowd loves to see.

Lynda Carter

The original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, before saving the world and performing her superhero duties was also a pageant queen. Carter was crowned multiple times: as Miss Phoenix, Miss Arizona, and went on to be crowned Miss USA all in just 20 days. After being crowned Miss USA she jetted off to compete in the 1972 Miss World contest in London. The pageant world simply wasn’t for her she says she found the idea of it undermining for women in the 1970s as liberation was on the rise. Carter says being a pageant queen created quite the stigma for her to beat, well she beat it and acted in one of the strongest female roles she could have asked for at that time!

From her first pageant appearance, Olivia Culpo began her winning streak. In 2010 she was crowned Miss Rhode Island but little did she know she would soon go on to win Miss Universe, being the first American winner since 1997. Culpo is attempting to put her pageant career behind her as she delves into the world of commercial modelling and is starring on the reality TV series ‘Model Squad.’

The well-known and loved actress, host and model started out in the pageant world when she was just a teenager. She won Miss Louisiana in 1990 and competed in Miss Teen USA in the exact same year. however om 1995 she won Miss Louisiana USA and went on to be crowned Miss USA in 1996. Landry has recently expressed how she does not want her 11-year-old daughter growing up in the pageant world until she is a little older, we think her mom for sure knows best.

If we take it way back before she stole our hearts in ‘One Tree Hill’ Sophia Bush was already making headlines. She grew up in Pasadena, California and had always had the dream of being an actress. In 2000 she made headlines for being named the 82nd Rose Queen. She was shocked to have won the pageant but the win was what launched her into the spotlight. Sophia won against six other young ladies.

Selena Gomez has become an icon for teenagers and young women across the globe. Before Gomez captivated her fan base from not only her music but the multiple Disney shows and movies she has acted in, she too was very involved in the pageant world. In fact, she started out when she was just a toddler, a very cute toddler. A few years back she posted a throwback from her pageant days and we can tell she had stardom written all over her.

The Lynda Carter of the newer generation, Wonder Women’s seem to have a little more in common on and off the screen. Gal Gadot before acting as Wonder Woman was Miss Israel in 2004. Gal Gadot’s image was sent in by her mom and she truly never thought she would win, however, acting as her dream and she did not want to be involved in the pageant world. Gadot confessed she would turn up late, wear the wrong outfits, and later came to the realization that her heart lay in acting.

Before she broke out as one of the wives on ‘FDesperate Housewives’ Eva Longoria was a big-time competitor in her home town of Texas. She was an avid competitor who won the 1998 title of Miss Corpus Christi. She certainly had that effortless and natural beauty, however, Longoria is one of the stars that enjoyed the pageant world and recognizes it as being a part of what led her to a successful acting career.

Michelle Pfeiffer’s film career launched the 1980s, she has a few crowns under her belt having won Miss California in 1978 and Miss Orange County in the same year.
