In September 2013, close to the one-year mark of her relationship with Reynolds, Lively gave an interview to Lucky magazine. During the conversation, she was quite honest about how she valued having the autonomy to pick her own path inside the marriage, especially regarding how she should dress. She seemed to be implying a question regarding whether or not she had experienced a shift in her aesthetic sensibilities since becoming a married woman.

She answered, “I should expect that by the time I’m 25 years old, I will dress differently than I did when I graduated from high school. I want my life to keep getting better.” She also complimented Reynolds’s taste in interior design in regard to their home in New York City, which she shared with him… “I can’t believe how lucky I am to be in a relationship with someone who has superior taste to mine.”

The first Monday in May of 2014 saw Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds making their first appearance on a red carpet, which happened to be at the world-famous Met Gala. Celebrities gather at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday of May each year to celebrate the opening of the annual Costume Institute Gala, which features an exhibition of works by world-famous designers such as Versace, Gucci, and Dior.

The two lovers were dressed head to toe in Gucci apparel and accessories. That year’s event, which paid tribute to American fashion designer Charles James, centered on the exhibition Beyond Fashion as its main attraction. Lively chose a dress that had a dramatic cape and a plunging neckline, whilst Reynolds wore a one-of-a-kind tuxedo made of blue velvet. They were seen gazing at one another with admiration as they made their way up the famous steps of the MET Museum.
