Queen Elizabeth in Norman Hartnell

Let’s reminisce about 1953 and the fabulous coronation gown worn by Queen Elizabeth. British fashion designer Norman Hartnell, who has dressed members of the Royal Family on numerous occasions, created this elaborate gown. Thousands of beads and pearls adorned the dress’s white duchess satin and silk fabric. The dress also featured floral embroidery to stand in for the Commonwealth countries. The Queen, like many other female members of the royal family, recycles her clothing and wore this gown multiple times after her coronation.
