Lavona was handed a sentence of 10 years in prison due to kidnapping, fraud, and her violation of the Children’s Act. Later in the year, Miché decided to visit Lavona in prison and try to get some answers from her. Miché said, “I saw my mother in the clothing that female prisoners wear and it broke my heart. I cried and cried.”
