According to a former resident of the neighborhood, Megan Kessler heard about the missing girl and created an organization dedicated to supporting the search and rescue operations. She gave the volunteers food and water. She spoke to WVLT News and said, “We knew it was going to be a long night.” She also said, “We brought coffee, chili, whatever they needed. We wanted to make sure we could supply it. They wouldn’t let us search, so we did what we could.”
