The lead singer and songwriter for The Kinks band, including his brother Dave Davies, is the English songwriter and guitarist Ray Davies. He is considered Britpop’s godfather of the genre. After the Kinks disbanded at the end of the 1990s, Davies became famous for a solo career. The Kinks got their recording contract in 1964, bringing them together for decades. Davies wrote the hit single, “You Really Got Me.” Davies led the band through the 1960s and 1970s, adding new sounds to make it commercially more viable. They also performed other popular songs.
