For Karl Baker, it was a day off from work that had been deemed necessary. Having worked many 12-hour shifts, he was quite prepared to take a break and relax. He’d already arranged his day out. He was about to sleep in, eat out, explore the city, and wrap up the day lounging in front of the TV with just a drink in his hand. However, things are not what was originally planned.

Baker woke up hopping on his bed with his dog, the sun was shining on his face, and it was already lunchtime. He got ready, started pouring himself a cup of coffee, and thought about where he might go to have a good brunch. Decided, he jumped in his car and began to head for a restaurant he hadn’t previously been to on the outskirts of town. That was a choice he would have dreaded afterward.

They began to look upon him with absolute disdain. It had been a long time since Baker had been confronted with some utter disregard. His chosen profession normally managed to keep him from being so badly treated, but no one here knew who he really was. Baker walked in and decided to join the line at the restaurant. His hunger began to grow as he looked at the menu on the wall, just like the time he had been waiting in line.

His pick had long been limited down to two meals. In several aspects, Baker was wonderful, although, in one way, he had always been renowned for just being a picky eater. He was selective, to say the least, so when he decided on a dinner, he had great expectations that his research would actually pay off. He was convinced that it would be good enough to wait in line to justify the 45-minute wait. He was entirely wrong.

Despite waiting almost an hour to place an order, Baker was a patient customer. Nevertheless, and rather quickly, this particular trait was pushed beyond the edge. As he was hungry and excited, Baker arrived with his money in hand. However, what quickly followed would have been very confusing for him.

Baker respectfully welcomed the cashier, who welcomed him back with an appearance strongly resembling frustration and perhaps irritation. She had been munching gum and obviously looked as if she was not having a decent day. Even so, he insisted on smiling while ordering his meals. He understood that life was not always rainbows and apple drops because Baker absolutely loved making people smile when he could. It was definitely not for this employee, though.

Baker was in a state of shock after hearing her say that she couldn’t produce the product he ordered. He was unhappy with the choice, but there were other options. At the last minute, he switched to his second choice, and the option was unavailable. Confused, he asked for the only other meal he wanted. She rolled her eyes again, repeating herself.

Now, he was irritated. He was spending so much time queuing up for food that has been highlighted under today’s special offers in chalk. He would not have had to stand in line if he had known that these special meals were not available. And also, her implacable attitude had no beneficial outcome. He still hindered his discontent and started asking if there were any left off the list.

Again, she started to roll her eyes and looked at him how she would claim that his question was stupid. Now, the behavior was just too much, primarily when their misleading advertising was involved. He had many things to say. However, before he can even open his mouth, it was as if she were reading his thoughts. “Listen, mister, if you’re not going to order, you need to leave,” she snarled.

“That’s it!” thought Baker. He stayed in place and then said nonchalantly, “Can I speak to your manager?” She turned around without saying a word and yelled at the back of the kitchen. She stares back at Baker, and then after that, a woman comes out. She begins to look at Baker and then at the people in line behind him, “What’s the problem here, sir? You’re holding up the people behind you.”

Baker saw where the behaviors came from. He recognizes that the task will be tough and challenging. He ignored the demeaning accusation that he was the cause of ridiculous lines and attempted to explain to her the validity of his observations and what exactly was going on at her establishment. After that, a female cook who was on the line began shouting at Baker, “You better pull me off the line because I’m not serving him,” He held back the urge to speak up until his manager started laughing. Baker acted calmly and told the people politely to treat their clients or dire consequences better.

As Baker expected, she didn’t want to listen to his recommendation. “I understand that things didn’t go your way today, sir, but that’s life. Now, if you could kindly remove yourself from my establishment. I don’t serve men like you,” she scoffed. “Men like me?!” Baker responded incredulously. What was it that she meant by ‘men like him’?

Baker has enough. He no longer played the role of Mr. Nice Guy. He persuaded her by reinforcing his objective and guaranteeing that he was pacifying her for her own benefit. Now, he requested that she explain what she implied by “men like him.” But what she did next will end up clearing up any remaining doubts about retaliation in his mind.

It was evident that she didn’t know who he was or the capabilities he had at his disposal; she was clueless. He often figured strolling around without his uniform was a great way to see what people were really like. And it succeeded in proving this. It really was pretty obvious to Baker that she wasn’t going to talk to him like an older person. He felt totally mistreated and mocked as bystanders started taking notice.

He started looking around at a few of the ears and eyes that paid him interest. As he came to realize, almost everyone was staring at him in the restaurant, his face turning red. He did not even recognize anybody there, but he began to wonder if some of the customers had identified him. They certainly wouldn’t even assume that a restaurant would have the audacity to address him like this if they did.

Baker decided to leave without receiving anything more than he ordered. He was outraged, frustrated, and embarrassed by their conduct, and therefore took action as a direct result. In the uniform that acknowledged everyone with respect, he would overlook the disturbing beginning of his day and come back to come to terms with this awful experience tomorrow at his usual working hours. Baker came dressed as a police chief and then returns to work the next day. He had many things to do and work on. He had been preoccupied, but he had promised himself he would call the restaurant a day after tomorrow and reveal his true face. He just can not sit tight to have seen them in their boots, trembling.

Baker stopped by the restaurant on his way home from a meeting at the restaurant. Bleating to find a parking place, he pulled up his patrol car and entered the building. His expression looked strict. The aura of his appearance filled the whole restaurant with tension. Baker was a big, burly man, and he projected power from the formal uniform he wore.

They were all looking at him with such proper reasons in mind. He approached them with smiling faces, honor, and a keen desire. The expressions of all the staff and the checkout person, who has been quite dense so far, have surprisingly lightened up. Baker, standing with one hand on his hip and a radio in the other. For obvious reasons, he played the part. Especially as his radio call bleeped with officer notifications, he waited for her to see her show up.

He stated that Baker “handled the situation perfectly” and detached himself from the situation by ending the altercation. But the owners of the restaurant do have very opposing viewpoints.
