There has been inflation but the price of a vowel has always been the same – $250. For example, if you wanted to purchase all the vowels in “Grading Papers”, it would set you back $1,000.
Vanna White Hasn’t Physically Turned a Letter in over 20 Years
Back in the show’s old days, hostess Vanna White needed to physically turn the letters on the board to reveal them to contestants and the audience. In 1997, the board became digital. Apparently, a touchscreen board which is controlled by a computer can save a lot of hours in production time.
