Idea For The Show
The creator Merve Griffin thought of the idea for the show based on his childhood memories playing hangman with his sister went they were in the car for long periods of time. He discussed this idea with his other workers, and this is when they decided to add a roulette-style wheel. Especially because as a child he was always drawn to wheels in casinos.
Quick Change
The show aired in 1975 and until 1981, Chuck Woolery was the host alongside former model Susan Stafford. After salary arguments with NBC, the two left the show and were replaced by Pat Sajak and the famous model Vanna White.
