Legacy Continued
Even after Larry and Moe passed away, the Three Stooges’ fame continued to spread. Even in the year 2000, the comedy duo’s popularity was high enough to warrant an ABC television movie with extensive advertising. The movie, simply titled The Three Stooges, delved deeply into the interpersonal conflicts within the comedy group. The film did well at the box office but received polarizing reviews.
A Remake
In 2012, a new film featuring the Three Stooges was released. The Farrelly Brothers didn’t direct a biopic with this movie. Instead, it updated three of the original Three Stooges cartoons. Moe, Larry, and Curly, played by Chris Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes, and Will Sasso, were a moderate critical and commercial disappointment.
