Special Protocol
The Ordnung is a collection of rules that regulate the social elements that are forbidden. The Ordnung laws regulate everything from clothing to technology to schooling. The term “command” or “discipline” is derived from a German word. Since there is no central church government among the Amish, each assembly is autonomous and governs itself.
Local Autonomy
Since there is no organized religious government, each church is free to alter the Ordnung as they see fit. Since they have this ability, each Amish group can have its own set of laws. Some cultures have more stringent rules than others.
