Animals can be taken as pets by Amish, but they are generally used for work. Foreign ideas like vegetarianism (ethical reasons) or large spending on veterinary care are not regular in Amish communities. They are not harsh to animals but pets are not standard for Amish culture.

Political Spectrum
It can be seen that Amish have an interesting political spectrum, appearing both conservative and liberal at the same time. A combination of rejecting divorce and abortion, as well as advocating for modest dress and being against pop culture. However, they also show their entrepreneurship. Advocating for fiscal austerity while rejecting social norms is something noteworthy to say the least.
