Ponies Want To Sunbathe Too
Ponies are believed to have existed on Assateague Island for hundreds of years. They are said to have originated from a herd of horses that survived a shipwreck in the 17th century off the coast of Virginia. After a while, the ponies adjusted to their new environment and are now allowed to graze all around Assateague Island. The ponies are free to explore the beach, but visitors are advised to keep a minimum of 10 feet between them to avoid getting hurt.
It is incredible to see one pony resting down while onlookers maintain a safe distance away from the scene. It is impressive that the pony is taking up space while onlookers maintain their distance.
