Lana and Lilly’s efforts on The Matrix were rewarded when they both received the Saturn Award for Best Director. Because of the success of the film, the sisters were given permission to make two sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. They have also expanded the trilogy into the video game market, which has proven to be extremely successful. These women use their positions to advocate for the LGBTQ+ community’s rights.

NikkieTutorials, commonly known as Nikkie de Jager, is another well-known trans YouTuber. This Dutch cosmetics artist began posting and sharing beauty films on YouTube. She rose to prominence after one of her videos went viral in 2015, depicting her with and without makeup and titled The Magic of Makeup. Nikkie immediately gained a large following, and others quickly followed suit, posting similar films of themselves with and without makeup. Yet Nikkie never talked about her identity because it didn’t interfere with her beauty tips. Until, in January 2020, after considerable internet conjecture, the YouTuber came out to her online audience in an emotional yet effective video.
