Smith’s portrayal as Antoine Wilkins in the musical Queen Sugar aided him in coming out as trans. This figure is a transgender police officer. Candis Cayne Started Her Career as a Drag Queen in the 90s
Candis Cayne grew up with a twin brother who was odd in some way. As a young gay guy, she traveled to New York City and began performing on stage as a drag queen. Cayne soon learned, however, that she was not gay, but rather a trans woman. Cayne began her transition while still performing, going through the major changes in her body live onstage. She also began auditioning for film and television jobs. Cayne eventually won her most well-known part, as a transgender character in Dirty Sexy Money.
