The ‘mother’ hasn’t finished washing her new baby yet. She continues to lick the befuddled calf, who seems to have fallen asleep. We must agree that a wash this harsh may be exhausting for a young deer. Suddenly, the photographer gasps as the lioness extend her jaws further! We can’t look at it any longer!

When the fangs come out, the deer becomes nervous. While the lioness is trying her best to be kind, we can’t blame the cub for wanting to get out of the path of those fangs. They have the potential to cause severe harm with a single unintentional bite. But we didn’t anticipate this tiny boy to attempt to flee his new mother!
