Tosin Abasi
Guitarist Oluwatosin Ayoyinka Olumide “Tosin” Abasi, a Nigerian-American, is best known as the lead player and founding member of the instrumental progressive metal band Animals as Leaders. The music of Tosin’s group is renowned for its complexity, which includes abrupt shifts in time signature and difficult rhythms. Moreover, he pioneered the use of the bass playing style known as “thumping” and the guitar method known as “selective picking.”

For his work with the bands Animal as Leaders and Mestis on the 8-string guitar, Javier Reyes is well known. Having studied classical guitar, he fuses traditional Spanish roots with progressive metal riffing. As one of Animals as Leaders’ guitarists, Reyes has demonstrated his proficiency on the 8-string guitar by playing challenging passages while being at ease.
