Finding the perfect story to make into a movie is not an easy task, and Hollywood producers spend a lot of time doing this. There are plenty of original concepts and scripts born from a writer’s imagination, but real life can often provide the ultimate inspiration. Almost all major studios, from Warner Brothers to Disney, invest a lot of money and manpower in searching for and adapting stories from headlines. The film companies make these stories into the modern cinematic classics we know today. It is no surprise that these films are filled with characters and plots which ring so true!

The King’s Speech (2010)

The heartwarming historical drama The King’s Speech centers around the true story of King George VI, who is not yet king in the movie. He has a severe speech impediment which requires him to get help from the speech therapist Lionel Logue, who has unorthodox tactics. While historical dramas are often riskier at the box office financially, this film was set for success with backing from Momentum Pictures and big names like Firth attached. The King’s Speech had an impressive showing on the festival circuit and it had a box office gross of $424 million. That is a lot considering the production budget was only $15 million.
