One of the most well-known blues musicians of the 20th century, Ray Charles had a life story that is truly unbelievable and inspired the biographical drama Ray. Written by James L. White and directed by Taylor Hackford, the film tells the story of Charles and how he still ruthlessly pursued a career in music despite having gone blind at the young age of. The movie is a joint production of Anvil Films and Bristol Bay Productions, with Baldwin Entertainment Group giving some help. Distributed by Universal Pictures, the film had a budget of $40 million but it grossed a whopping $124.7 million and won an Academy Award for Foxx.

Capote (2005)

Renowned playwright and novelist, Truman Capote wrote works that are still relevant to this day. He tracked the journey of the author by writing the true-crime novel titled, “In Cold Blood”, though it caused him personal turmoil since he had difficulty separating himself from the story that he was telling. The movie starred the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, who disappeared into the character of Capote and went on to win an Oscar for his performance. Sony Pictures Classics distributed the critically-acclaimed biopic, which made a solid $50 million and was able to recoup $43 million from what was spent on its production.
