Hitchcock (2012)
Alfred Hitchcock has one of the greatest filmmakers ever for his suspenseful masterpieces. This biographical movie is about the famed director’s life and work, specifically focusing on his relationship with his wife (portrayed by Helen Mirren) when he was making the legendary horror flick Psycho. Of course, Psycho is now among the most influential films in history, achieving an almost-mythological place among legends of horror. Critics praised Anthony Hopkins’ portrayal of the director and they also noted the uncanny likeness of Hopkins and Hitchcock.
Lincoln (2012)
Lincoln tells the story of former US president Abraham Lincoln, who was a Union leader during the Civil War. Directed and produced by Steven Spielberg, the movie was written by Tony Kushner based on the book “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln” by Doris Kearns Goodwin. This film is an intense character study of a nearly-mythologized man who is under pressure. Daniel Day-Lewis portrayed a tormented Lincoln. Produced by industry heavy hitters20th Century Fox and Dreamworks, the movie was a smash hit, with a box office gross of $275 million.
