127 Hours (2010)

The intense biographical film 127 Hours is about Aron Ralston (played by James Franco), who is a canyon explorer. Ralston got trapped under a boulder in Bluejohn Canyon, which is a slot canyon located in southeastern Utah. The film is shot like a video diary and we can see Ralston trying his best to free himself without success. This movie is an adaptation of Ralston’s autobiography titled, “Between a Rock and a Hard Place”, where he talks about the 127 hours he spent being trapped. Towards the end of that time, Ralston had to make a brutal choice to keep himself alive.

Monster (2003)

This biographical film is about the serial killer Aileen Wuornos, whom the state of Florid eventually put to death. Monster depicts the life of Wuornos before she started killing until the police captured her. Wuornos had a mental illness, which started when she was a young girl suffering horrific abuse from her male family members. Theron had to put on thirty pounds, wear prosthetic teeth, and shave her eyebrows to portray the sympathetic Wuornos, who was actually despised far more than male serial killers. Theron won an Academy Award for her stunning transformation.
