The Wolf Of Wall Street (2013)
Jordan Belfort’s autobiography, “The Wolf of Wall Street”, chronicles the crazy excessive lives that Wall Street stockbrokers led in the 1980s. A true masterpiece, the film adaptation was directed by Martin Scorsese and stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Belfort. Stratton Oakmont, Belfort’s firm, was among the most corrupt Wall Street firms and famously defrauded its clients as well as the government. In the end, Belfort was caught. Margot Robbie plays his wife while Jonah Hill plays his business partner.
The Imitation Game (2014)
The Imitation Game was nominated for several Oscars and won some of them. Starring Keira Knightley and Benedict Cumberbatch, the film is based on the true story of the genius Alan Turing, who cracked Nazi codes after getting recruited by M16. Educated at Cambridge, Turing was assigned to crack Enigma, a Nazi code that was previously thought to be unbreakable. This movie is based on Andrew Hodges’ book titled, Alan Turing: The Enigma. The Imitation Game centers around the life of the mathematics prodigy and explores his struggle against homophobia. Turing was sent to prison back in 1952 after authorities found out he was gay.
