Blaze (2018)
Released in 2018, Blaze is based on country star Blaze Foley’s life. It was directed and produced by actor Ethan Hawke Blaze and stars musician Ben Dickey as Foley. One of Foley’s contribution is helping popularize Texas Outlaw Country, which is a music style that used to be underground but has gone to major studio labels. The film is based on a memoir written by Sybil Rosen called “Living in the Woods in a Tree: Remembering Blaze”. Ben Dickey may not be known as an actor, but his performance in the film was well-received and garnered him critical acclaim. Former “Texas Outlaw” musician and Country star Kris Kristofferson appeared in the movie as well.

Respect (2020)
Singer Jennifer Hudson stars as one of the 20th century’s most influential musicians, the legendary Aretha Franklin. Titled after a famous Franklin song, Respect is a biographical drama slated for release in January 2021. Aside from Hudson, the film also stars Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Tituss Burgess, and Mary J. Blige. Tracey Scott Wilson wrote the screenplay while Wilson and Callie Khouri wrote the story. Distributing the film is United Artists Releasing, and Liesl Tommy has signed on to direct the movie.
