Milk (2008)
Milk is based on the life of politician Harvey Milk, who is one of America’s first openly gay politicians and served during the 1970s. Veteran actor Sean Penn played Milk, who was inspired to become an activist and politician after experiencing the counterculture movement of the ‘60s. Talented director Gus Van Sant led the project, so it’s not a surprise that the movie earned more than $54 million, in spite of the edgier subject matter. Back in 2008, Focus Features distributed the film. Milk was perhaps partly responsible for raising awareness to different gay rights issues like gay marriage, which was only fully legalized in the 2015 Supreme Court decision.
The Crown (2016)
The Queen Mother in the historical drama’s first two seasons is played by Victoria Hamilton. A tough and challenging role to play as the Queen Mother was not the happiest and the role required her to wear a bodysuit of some ort in order to achieve the same shape as the Queen Mother. An honor to play such a historical figure. Queen Victoria accepted the position when she was a teenager and is now known as ‘the Grandmother of Europe.’
