Rio was only three years old at the time. She looked at the world, like most girls her age, with wide-eyed wonder. She was very innocent, and she was still unjaded, which was sweet. She would always greet strangers, though. Although Briana was initially worried about that, in the end, she decided to shrug it off. What was the worst that could happen, after all? “It won’t happen,” she assumed, “not to us.”

Next to the police station was the company’s new building. Rio soon noticed this. “We get a front-row seat to all of the action,” Briana explained. “My daughter lives for it.” The little girl would head up to the windowsill each morning to wave at the cops walking by. Rio was obviously fond of doing this, but she was not the only person who did it. Also, Officer Colvin was very fond of her little routine.
