Although the 1970s were the era of the mod, that doesn’t mean that every style survived into the following decades (men’s flared pantsuits, for example). Different Tacky Proms, Same Dress
In 1986, this young woman’s mother, pictured at left, wore this bold pattern to a prom. In 2014, her daughter managed to pull off the same look by wearing it to her school’s “tacky prom.” Tacky proms are school dances that have the same setup as a prom but with a little less formality. Students are encouraged to dress outrageously for a night of dancing to cheesy throwback hits from the past.
