“In 1987 I thought my mother paid a fortune for my prom dress. But looking back over the last 30 years, I’d say we’ve gotten our money’s worth from it. Now that my daughter has worn my dress to her prom, I am convinced we have.” It’s nice to be able to put money into something once and have it pay off repeatedly. Both parent and child look stunning in this altered prom dress, and we love the white sneakers!

Some people prefer to reuse their mother’s gown in other ways: “Made a set of accent pillows from my mom’s prom dress.” You know what? Some dresses have served their purpose as dresses and now need to be replaced. The gown was stunning back in the day, but it now makes for some fantastic pillowcases – and probably gets far more use as a pillowcase than it did as a prom gown. Crafty, astute, and sentimental all at the same time!
