Sneaking behind the counter
She moved slowly past the counter and down the corridor. She made a concerted effort to avoid making any loud noises and stepped very gingerly onto the wooden floorboards. At the end of the hallway, there were two doors. She paused and listened, unsure which path to take.

She paid close attention, and she heard someone speaking. She gently leaned in and put her ear against it because it was coming from the right door. She could now clearly hear the man speaking, but since no one answered, she assumed he was on the phone. What was he referring to?
