When a soldier stands “at ease”, it may not look so comfortable. However, if you stand in a particular way for a few years, the stance becomes sort of comfortable, even when you are back in civilian life.

Sir And Ma’am
Soldiers are taught a lot of things and one of them is being respectful. The milkman, the bread lady, or your parents will be referred to as ‘sir’ and ‘ma’am’. This is how soldiers address anyone they talk to.
