The producers initially wanted to name the main character of the sitcom as Sally. In the end, Reba McEntire was able to convince the producers to name the main character after her. The country musician knew that her loyal fans would watch the show once they found out that the main character was named after her. The one who was chosen to play as her nemesis was Melissa Peterman. The mistress of the husband was named Barbara, and even though it appeared that they hated each other’s guts on screen, Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman were best friends in real life.
