She was given the role of Reba Gallagher, who was a divorced mother with two children. Similar to her role in the television series, she found out that she had been cheated on by her husband.

Reba McEntire received the Malibu house in the sitcom. During the settlement of divorce and after that, she attempted to start fresh with her career in country music. The television series had mixed reviews. However, it was the top-rated new comedy show for the network last 2012. It was unfortunate that Malibu Country was discontinued after running for 18 episodes.
