An Early Arrival
Even though Lively and Reynolds weren’t expecting their first child until January 2015, a source close to the couple said that Lively had given birth early in December at the Westchester Medical Center in New York. Everyone is doing well and pleased even though the baby came ahead of schedule. The Bedford home is now ready for occupancy. They will stay at that location for the first several days of the newborn’s life.

It was claimed in a tweet that a medical worker had written that the couple’s daughter’s name was Violet. However, this turned out to be inaccurate after further investigation. Instead, they decided to commemorate Reynolds’ recently departed father by naming their child James, instead of Violet.
No One Knew?!
Even if the news of the couple’s firstborn’s birth did get out through an anonymous source, not everyone in the couple’s inner circle was aware of it at the time. The co-star of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Amber Tamblyn, also the child’s godmother, was one of the people who were completely unaware of the situation.

She went to the Lively and Reynolds house to discuss wallpaper for her renovation, but when she got there, she found out that Lively had already given birth. Lively had called her about the wallpaper. After some time passed, Tamblyn realized she had been tricked, although she was overjoyed to see her new goddaughter. Such a sweet moment!
