This is a dead giveaway that you’re from the United States. “mate.” like the Australians say. Americans use the term “bro.” Update your slang if you wish to keep a low profile for whatever reason. However, this is not anything that Americans should be ashamed of. “Bro” is no dumber than “mate” “bruv” “gov’na” or whatever term of affection other countries employ.

Fanny Packs
Fanny packs are not commonly worn by Americans. When we go overseas, for some reason, they become an essential component of the ensemble. Perhaps it’s the articles we’ve read warning us to keep an eye on our wallets. Perhaps we don’t know what to do with our belongings when we don’t have our SUV to transport them in. Whatever the cause, we’ve arrived. (You should also examine your white socks, athletic shoes, shorts, and baseball caps.)
