MILA KUNIS
You might be surprised to hear that Milena Markovna Kunis was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine! When she was 7 years old, her Jewish family left for the United States after the collapse of the Soviet Union. They went to Los Angeles, where she grew up. The family had a hard time at first, which is something that other immigrants can tell you all about. She started to go to after-school acting workshops. An agent later discovered her and gave her TV show and commercial gigs. At the age of 14, she finally got her big break when she was cast to star in That ‘70s Show. When it comes to film, the credit goes to Forgetting Sarah Marshall. She was also in Ted and Black Swan.
NATALIE PORTMAN
In reality, this actress was born with a different last name: Hershlag. Portman, her screen name, was actually the maiden name of her grandmother. She was born to an American mother and an Israeli father, so she is a citizen of both countries. As a toddler, the family relocated to Washington, DC and then to Long Island, New York. Did you know that she holds a degree in psychology from Harvard University? This is an amazing feat on its own, but she did this while launching an acting career! At the moment, she has two Golden Globes and an Academy Award under her belt. It turns out that she still travels to her home country whenever she could. She said that she feels most at home over there.
