He was born in Ireland but moved to Great Britain to pursue an acting career in the ‘80s. After some time, he made it to the United States but found it hard to snag roles thanks to his heavy accent. In order to make it, he had to figure out how to turn it on and off. In 2009, the actor finally received his U.S. citizenship. While it made it hard for him to launch his acting career, he has said that he would not be the same person if it were not for his Irish heritage.
